The navel piercing seems infected, there is pus and blood sometimes?

23-year-old womana year ago
For at least 1 week, my belly button piercing has been infected, stink comes out and even blood sometimes. I've tried to disinfect it with saline water but it doesn't seem to work. In the past, what worked every time to cure this infection was to use chlorhexidine, but the last few times I used it (in other places on my body) to disinfect, I had allergic reactions. So I don't dare use it again on my infection.

Hello ma'am, did you remove the piercing?

Not yet, I'm afraid the hole is closing.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry for the delay!
Unfortunately, the piercing will have to be removed to give the skin a chance to heal, that's the only way.
I only recommend putting it back in once the area has returned to its normal appearance. You should also make sure to clean the piercing well and leave it in boiling water for at least 5 minutes.
The worst that can happen is that the piercing will have to be redone if the hole closes. However, if you don't remove it, the situation may persist and possibly deteriorate.
Basic hygiene with water and mild soap twice a day should be sufficient. Do not apply peroxide, alcohol or other products as they dry out the skin and slow down the healing process.
If the situation does not improve after 7 days, you should consult a doctor.
I hope this has been helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
