Should I give him the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor or reconsult?

My 6 year old son has sinusitis that keeps coming back. We went to the doctor and he gave us antibiotics in case it got worse. He does not complain of headaches or pain. He has a greenish nasal discharge and a significant nasal congestion. Since August, he has had 3 such episodes that lasted a few weeks. He was better at most 2 weeks between episodes (he has no known allergies, we rinse his nose and give him Avamys as well. Note that he is also asthmatic).

Good morning, ma'am,
When did you see the doctor for this episode?
How long did he give you before starting the antibiotic?
Did his symptoms remain stable, worsen or improve?

doctor consulted mid-September. Nothing has gotten worse, but it's still going on. He had 3 recurrences with about 2 weeks between each episode where he was better.

He also coughs (common with his asthma), sometimes has mild vomiting, but no fever. Could another respiratory infection be causing these symptoms? Like bronchitis?

Thanks for the feedback! I am reassured that he has not gotten worse. Is he getting his inhalers regularly? Do you do nasal hygiene with him too? Does he have any seasonal allergies?

No allergies. He has Flovent that we give him every day and I would say that in the last few months, we have given him a lot of Flovent as well. Yes, we do nasal hygiene.

Thanks for the information! If he has any kind of stuffy or runny nose at all, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bed. This can greatly help prevent sinus secretions from flowing back into the throat and causing or worsening the cough.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
