Where should I start with my hip pain that is preventing me from doing my daily activities?

35-year-old woman2 years ago
For the past 6 weeks, I have had pain in my hips that makes an activity as simple as walking very painful. The pain wakes me up at night, and I can no longer sleep on my side. The pain seems inflammatory rather than mechanical. My knees and ankles also hurt. I feel terribly tired. I have ulcerative colitis which was diagnosed in 2004 and has been actively and continuously flaring up for the past 2 1/2 years. In the past 2 years, I have had several successive corticosteroid therapies, been hospitalized for 3 weeks for the colitis, lost 30 pounds in 2 months, my BMI was 15 until recently, and I have not had my period for 1 year (January 2021 to January 2022). I am currently treated with Stelara 90mg every 4 weeks, purinethol 50mg daily and Salofalk enemas 4g daily.

Hello Madam, thank you for your question, I am sorry to read about your troubles!
I am sure that a physiotherapy consultation will be helpful to you. Physiotherapists are the best professionals to assess your pain and develop a personalized and realistic treatment plan for you. Most group insurance plans cover this type of service.
If you have not already done so, I strongly suggest that you make an appointment.
Sincerely
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
