Should I do something extra or does everything look normal? Time only? When will soccer resume?

Hello, in mid-December I sprained my right ankle, potentially grade 1. I went to see a physiotherapist who bandaged it and I was soon able to walk normally again. However, my problem is that I still have pain despite exercising for several weeks. I am working on my range of motion, my strength and my stability, all exercises recommended by the physiotherapist. However, I am still in pain and I don't know what more I should do to help me. Will this continue for a few weeks and it will get better? I did this while playing soccer so I'm waiting to start again, but I'm afraid I'll start too soon so should I wait or should I start my activities again? Should I do anything extra or is this normal? My pain is like a painful stretch in the back and when I'm on one foot my outer ankle makes a "banging" sound and it feels like something is sticking and it's unpleasant.

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
A sprained ankle can take 4 to 6 weeks, but it can take longer with more severe sprains.
You did well with the physio, that's what I encourage.
I would encourage you to consult your physio again to see if a progression of your rehab may be relevant. This is your best option.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
