My 3 year old has a fever of 40 since yesterday afternoon, despite the tylenol at 4 o'clock and the advil at 6 o'clock it is very difficult to get the temperature down below 39. He drinks water, and as for appetite he nibbles. He says he has a stomach ache and a headache. Should I be worried and go see a doctor? Thank you

Good morning, Madam,
Generally, for a 3 year old child, if the fever rises to 40°C on several occasions, the fever persists for more than 3 days, inability to eat, stiffness in the neck, vomiting or a poor general condition, I suggest you consult a doctor for a more in-depth evaluation.
Keep in mind that it is maximum 5 doses in 24 hours for Tylenol.
Here are some measures to take when you have a fever:
  • Remove excess blankets but do not undress completely (dress lightly)
  • Keep the room temperature at a comfortable level around 20°C
  • It is important to stay hydrated
I hope this answers your question,
