Should we have our ears checked or is it safe to do so on the plane?

My 16 month old son had 2 ear infections, since then he plays a lot with his ears, without having a fever. He is growing teeth. We are leaving on a trip mid-January. Should we consult before the trip to make sure it is ok or wait for more symptoms and no danger on the plane?

Hello !
There are many reasons why your baby might touch his ear. Otitis is one, he could also just be discovering his body, like it could be an ear plug. I've also found that it's possible for a baby to touch his ears when teething, but it's not very common
If your baby has no symptoms, the fact that he is playing with his ears a lot is not a concern at this time. I would suggest that you keep an eye on your baby's general condition and seek medical attention if he or she seems to be in pain when touching his or her ears, cries a lot, is irritable, has a fever or has cold symptoms
Finally, how long has he been playing with his ears? If it persists for a long time without any apparent reason, you may decide to consult a doctor in January to be sure before your trip.
I hope I have answered your question correctly,
