How long after the trip to Mexico to try to get pregnant?

Hello, My partner and I are going to Mexico in March. We also want to try to have a child at the same time. I have been reading about the Zika virus and it worries me.

Hello Ms., thank you for your question!
As of today, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (commonly known as CDC) reports that there is currently no active Zika outbreak reported in Mexico. However, the risk cannot be considered zero, considering the presence of mosquitoes that can potentially carry the disease and the possible delays in reporting cases to the country.
The CDC recommends constant chemical and physical protection from mosquitoes (including a net around the bed at night) during travel and for 3 weeks afterward. It is recommended to wait until 3 months after return to try to conceive.
I hope I've been helpful, and I'm available if you have any other questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
