I am afraid of the side effects of the IUD, what do you think?

42-year-old woman4 years ago
I have a hormonal imbalance; I have my period every 17 days and sometimes 24. My doctor suggests an IUD, but I'm afraid of the side effects (fatigue, backache and stomach ache)

Hello, thank you for your question
First of all, you should know that the IUD is generally very well tolerated and stabilizes the menstrual cycle in the majority of women who use it. Stomach and back pain occur mainly in the first few days following the insertion of the IUD and can be relieved in most cases by Tylenol or Advil.
Moreover, even if an IUD generally lasts 3 to 5 years, nothing prevents us from removing it prematurely if it is not tolerated.
If you have specific questions about the IUD or your condition, I am available to answer them
