I have an itchy vagina, what should I do and is it serious?

I am 22 years old, almost 23. I have had one sexual partner in my life (in a relationship for 7 years) and I am the only one he has had. I have no rashes or sores. I noticed last week that I had a little more discharge than usual, but I don't really think it was thicker than usual (maybe with the exception of a time or 2). The itching is not constant (not always present) and it started a little over a week ago.

Good morning, ma'am,
Do you have any other symptoms such as fever, abnormal bleeding, or pain/burning when you go to the bathroom? Are your secretions colored and/or have a fishy smell?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should see a doctor as soon as possible
If you did not answer yes to these questions, it is still usually recommended to consult a physician if you have never had the symptoms you have now, in order to get a diagnosis and not delay the right treatment, if any. However, if you are unable to see a doctor in the next few days, Canesten cream with applicator can be tried with one vaginal applicator at bedtime and application of the cream on the vulva twice a day for 6 consecutive days.
Your pharmacist will be able to show you which product it is, record it in your file and follow up with you.
However, if no improvement is reported after 3 days, you should consult a physician.
I remain available if you have any other questions

Hello,
I have not had any other symptoms as you mentioned in the last few days/weeks. I am going to try the treatment you are talking about
I have an appointment with my family doctor by the first week of September, do you think this is reasonable?
thank you very much!

And for the canesten treatment, since I am supposed to have my period in 6 days, do I start it anyway and stop it when my period starts?

You can still start the treatment, notwithstanding a period.
I would not recommend waiting until September if your symptoms persist.

So if my period starts by the time I finish the treatment, I still finish it? And great, if the treatment doesn't make the itching go away, I'll make an appointment the following week with my doctor.

Yes you complete the treatment even during your period :)
