At this age, a rectal temperature above 38.0°C is considered a fever. In a 1-year-old with a stomach bug, we would consult if the fever has been present for more than 2 days. The child should also be consulted if he or she shows signs of dehydration (very dark or absent urine, lethargic state, dry skin and mucous membranes, etc.). In such a case, one can consult more quickly.
In your situation, try to increase the frequency of drinking if the child is breastfed. If not, try using a product such as Pedialyte™, to be given after each vomit or liquid stool.
For fever, use Tempra™ or Advil™.
