Hello. I've had a sore throat for two weeks. When I swallow it hurts. I went to a pharmacy and had a strep test but it was negative. I'm very tired, I had a fever at first.

Hello ma'am,
Has there been a period of improvement during these 2 weeks or is it constant?
Do you have any other symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, even a little?

No improvement. I have a cough but no runny or stuffy nose

Thanks for the feedback.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) and lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend are the first options for throat pain.
Coughing is very often caused by sinus secretions flowing back into the throat, even if you don't feel any congestion or discharge. I suggest trying nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can reduce their backward flow, which often causes coughing.
I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids.
If the current situation does not improve after 7 days or gets worse, you should consult a doctor.
I am available if you have any other questions!
