I have a dry throat that stings and it wakes me up even at night?

Hello, for some time now, I have had a stinging/dry throat. It even wakes me up at night and when it happens I get a dry cough, I feel the need to clear my throat and I have to drink water to clear it up. And even several sips of water doesn't totally solve the situation, but it helps. It doesn't sting like it's allergies, but like the back of my throat is dry. On top of that, for about 3 days I have had tonsils that hurt especially when I swallow and more pronounced on the left. I feel that they are swollen. I haven't had any other symptoms, so I don't know what it is. I thought it was from clearing my throat that they were irritated. I have tried advil and tylenol, but they don't take away the swollen tonsils.

Good morning, ma'am,
When did you first notice this?
Is it a problem of dry mouth or really of the throat?
Do you have other symptoms such as a runny or blocked nose, even a little?
Are you taking any other medication at this time?

The dry throat has lasted for about 2 weeks and the tonsil pain started about 3 days ago.
It is only the throat that is dry. I have no other symptoms, only dry throat and swollen tonsils that hurt.
I have been taking Acarizax every day to desensitize myself to my allergies for a year now.

Thanks for the information, I'm sorry for the delay in my response, I hadn't seen the notification!
Since this only happens at night when you are lying down, I am inclined to suspect 'post-nasal drip', like your sinuses running like a faucet down your throat. To this end, I invite you to try nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as necessary during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, the flow of secretions down the throat can be greatly reduced. It's a little uncomfortable but works wonders!
I also suggest drinking lots of fluids, cold or hot depending on your preference, and a teaspoon of honey in the evening can help with coughing fits.
I invite you to try this for 7 days. If it doesn't work or the situation worsens, you should consult a doctor as a precaution.
I hope I have helped you and I am available if you have any other questions!
