My 2 month old baby has had his first vaccinations and has a fever?

31-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, My 2 month old boy had his first shots yesterday. He had no fever to go until this noon. His rectal temperature was 38. I gave him a dose of tempra. I was told on one hand to go see a doctor in 4 hours if he still had that much or more, and I was also told to wait 2 days that it was normal after the vaccines. I'm worried because he is only 2 months old.

Thank you for your question!
As long as the rectal temperature does not exceed 38 Celsius, there is no need to worry. It is considered a fever if the temperature exceeds this value. You should consult a doctor if the fever lasts 2 days or more in a child of this age, as a precaution.
Continue the Tempra as needed and encourage your child to drink a lot.
I hope I have been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
