Good morning, ma'am,
Tonsillitis can often be secondary to a virus. In these cases, taking acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands), drinking plenty of fluids (cold or hot, depending on your preference), and you can also try taking lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend for local relief of throat irritation.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days without improvement, or if you have a fever that lasts more than 72 hours, you should see a doctor
In addition, given the symptoms that are similar to the condition, it is recommended that a rapid test for COVID be performed.
I hope this has been helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
