3 week old baby with a stuffy nose?

My 3 weeks old baby has a blocked nose and a lot of secretions. It prevents him from sleeping and he takes the breast less well since he has difficulty breathing and chokes with his secretions... I already give nasal showers... What should I do and what should I watch for in terms of his health?

Hello, thank you for your question! You are doing very well with nasal hygiene. It can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. I also suggest, at this age, to use a baby wipe afterwards For now, just monitor his general condition. It is normal for your baby to have less appetite, encourage him to drink often, even if it means that the drinks are shorter but more frequent. However, at this age, you should consult without delay if your baby has a fever (any temperature over 38 Celsius by rectal route).
