I started my folic acid in early June. Should I wait until I have completed 3 months before I start trying to get pregnant?

Hello,
Ideally, it is recommended to start folic acid 2 to 3 months before getting pregnant. This is a Canadian recommendation. The goal is to decrease the risk of neural tube defects in the fetus. Taking folic acid reduces this risk. Most abnormalities occur in the first 4 weeks of pregnancy... so long before the woman knows she is pregnant!
You are already taking the supplement which is great! I would suggest, as you are well aware of why you are taking these supplements, to wait at least 2 months before trying to get pregnant. That being said, if you do get pregnant before then, don't panic! You are already doing the right thing to prevent abnormalities.
Hopefully this answers your question!
