Is it normal to have pain in certain positions after an IUD insertion?

22-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, 5 days ago I had the Mirena IUD installed, because I had a lot of spotting and my periods lasted 10 days and more I also had no libido. The day of the insertion (Friday, September 9), I didn't have any stomach ache, I took 1 Advil before the insertion without more. Since then, I have had small pains in certain everyday positions. For example, when I sit down I have small cramps that stop as soon as I get up. I haven't had any bleeding since the day before yesterday. Everything is beautiful at this level.

Hello Mrs,
Yes, some discomfort or pain is possible for a while after the insertion of an IUD. However, this pain should remain mild and temporary. In some cases, it may take a few weeks. Taking Advil can help, as well as warm water compresses.
If the pain persists for more than 3 months or gets worse, you should consult your doctor as a precaution.
I hope I have been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
