Is it possible for my menstrual cycle to be irregular when I stop taking birth control?

25-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, I have not yet fallen in my week and the fat test says negative. I had my last period on June 11. I am not taking any contraception since May. I had a normal period in May (May 17) as soon as I removed my ring. I did not put it back on voluntarily afterwards. Then I had a 25 day cycle (May 17 to June 10) my only cycle without contraception in June. I should have fallen in my week in early July or so. I am almost 1 week late with my period, but I did a test this morning Monday July 11 and it was negative. When can I expect to be tested again for pregnancy? Was it too early? Or can menstruation stop like that? I never had a problem before. I took off my ring every 3 months and always fell in my week.

Good morning, Mrs,
It may take a few months for your menstrual cycle to become regular after you stop using birth control. This can take 3 to 6 months for many women but does not necessarily indicate a problem
A pregnancy test can be done from the first expected day of menstruation, but this may not be as easy to determine in your case because you have recently stopped birth control, and it is difficult to determine the length of your menstrual cycle with certainty
I suggest that you take a pregnancy test every 3 to 5 days when you are not menstruating
If it has been a full month since your last period and the pregnancy tests remain negative, you should consult a doctor as a precaution.
I hope I've been helpful, don't hesitate if you have any other questions

Great, thanks
Am I still at risk for pregnancy without a period? Or when my period comes back, is that when I have a chance to get pregnant?

You can still get pregnant even if you haven't had your period yet.
