I think I have sinusitis. Do I really need to see a doctor or can I take over-the-counter things to help me? I am exclusively breastfeeding.

I think I have sinusitis. Headache, pressure on my face at the level of my forehead and under my eyes. Nose completely congested. Nasal discharge every 2 seconds. I blow my nose green. Dry cough. Sinus rinse doesn't help me and hydrasens. I take dristant, the only thing that helps me for now, but I'm already on my 4th day. Would a humidifier help? Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,
You can continue to use a local decongestant such as Dristan, but we suggest limiting its use to 5 days
The use of a humidifier is not recommended right away. It must be cleaned regularly, as there is a risk of contamination by mold and bacteria.
To relieve headaches and pain, you can use either Tylenol or Advil if you are breastfeeding and have no other health condition.
The symptoms you describe may resolve after 7-10 days without antibiotics
If your symptoms are very uncomfortable and prevent you from functioning, you may want to see a doctor. Or, if your symptoms last more than a week without improvement, I also invite you to consult a doctor.
Have a nice day,
Chloé

If I use the remote beyond 5 days, what does it do? Does it disturb my breastfeeding?

Dristan should not interfere with breastfeeding, but use for more than 5 days may cause rebound congestion: that is, a reappearance of congestion worse than before
