I think I have digestive candidiasis, which may be one of the causes of my autoimmune disease. How can I find out and treat it?

I have had very frequent vaginal infections for 3 years. Lately, I have been getting a lot more. I have been diagnosed with hashimoto's hypothyroidism as well as having severe stomach and abdominal pain. I went off gluten and it is getting better, but I still have vaginal infections and pain.

Thanks for the feedback!
I want to reassure you that Hashimoto's disease does not diminish the strength of your immune system.
Having said that, there are several things you can do to reduce the risk of yeast vaginitis:
  • Avoid tight clothing, and favor wearing undergarments that are more breathable, such as cotton ones
  • When cleaning up after washing, wipe from front to back
  • If possible, avoid soaps in this area as they can contribute to the unbalancing of the vaginal flora
  • If symptoms occur after sex, it may be appropriate to try a different type of condom, without lubricant, perfume or spermicide, if available
If you have had 4 or more episodes in the past 12 months, you should see a doctor for a thorough evaluation of your condition.
I hope I've been helpful, please don't hesitate if you have any further questions!
