I have an attack of genital herpes type 1. How long can it last?

I thought it was a yeast infection so 5 days ago I put canesten for 2 days and finally I think it's a herpes attack so I'm taking Valtrex 2x a day this is my 3rd day. It seems to be calming down but I still have a feeling that it's still there but I don't see... should I continue to take the valtrex 2x a day and when will the symptoms go away? The discomfort is between the entrance of the vagina and the anus. Ps: in the last 12 months I have had a few attacks around 5 so I have a prescription for 1 Valtrex a day but I wasn't taking them... I should have... would putting canesten help? And if I take the canesten test in the pharmacy to detect another infection will that help me know if there is something else going on?

Hello Ma'am,
First, due to the number of herpes episodes this year, I recommend that you take the daily dose of Valtrex™ as soon as you stop your current treatment.
For the second part, please be aware that the Canesten cream will probably not help. Doing the Canesten test for vaginosis won't help either. 😊
I would recommend doing the full treatment (7-10 days). Given the occurrence of several episodes recently, it's not impossible that the pain will still be present a bit after the antibiotic is finished.
Happy day :)
