Does sunscreen applied to the face in the morning still offer protection at the end of the day?

34-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, in the morning I apply a sunscreen 50 SPF and then I put makeup on top. I have to expose myself to the sun at the end of the day when I walk back home (9 hours after applying the sun cream, but without having done any sports or swimming). I wonder if I still have protection even if it exceeds the recommended duration on my cream (it is indicated to reapply it after 2 hours). I hesitate to put cream on top of my makeup (e.g. foundation).

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question!
It is very unlikely that your sunscreen applied in the morning will give you the same level of protection in the afternoon. It is indeed recommended to apply it every 2 hours, and more often if you sweat or get wet.
That being said, if you don't want to apply sunscreen to your face, I suggest protecting your face with a hat or cap, and protecting other parts of your body like your hands with sunscreen.
I hope this has been helpful to you, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
