Hello ma'am,
the Quebec Immunization Committee recommends an interval of 3 months or more between a confirmed COVID-19 infection and a COVID-19 vaccine. The delay is important because vaccination too soon after infection does not create the desired immune effect.
Know that the government recommends 2 doses of vaccine spaced 8 weeks apart to create adequate immunity (this is the primary vaccination). Following that, 1 booster dose 5 months later is indicated for those 18 years and older and another booster dose is now offered to those at risk for complications. The infection is considered a replacement for the booster dose and therefore may not be given. However, the patient can choose whether or not to take the booster dose, as long as there is a 3-month delay with their infection.
Hopefully, your question has been answered,
Good day 😊
