Can COVID become a streptococcus?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
Hi, I tested positive for covid19 on July 5. My sx are changing except for an intense sore throat, with the impression that it is mostly on the right side. It's always very intense in the morning and it diminishes a bit as the day goes on but it starts again the next day. The lozenges do not help much. Pain when swallowing and at rest only the impression that it is irritated without more.

Hello ma'am, sorry to read about your troubles!
Strep is a bacterium and COVID is a virus. One cannot cause the other
That being said, throat pain is one of the main symptoms of COVID, but this is usually temporary
If not already done, I highly recommend nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse, which can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bed. It's a little uncomfortable but works extremely well!
You can continue the lozenges if desired, and take acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) for prolonged relief of throat pain, and I encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot as you prefer.
If your symptoms persist for more than a week or get worse, you should see a doctor.
I hope I've been helpful, so please don't hesitate if you have any further questions

Hello,
Great, thanks for your advice.
I will try the sinus rinse.
At the same time, I take the opportunity to ask you if the advils to make my condition worse? It was 5ham and I was still not sleeping because of the pain in my throat. I woke up at 6am with dizziness, sweating and nausea. I thought I had to go to the hospital, I put a washcloth of water on my forehead and a fan, it seems to be getting better
Thank you so much for your support,

Thanks for the feedback!
If you are not pregnant or trying to become pregnant, or have any contraindications to taking Advil (your pharmacist will be able to confirm this), no problem taking it to relieve symptoms!
