No improvement after 7 days of antibiotics, should I go back to the doctor?

My 6 week old son has a purulent discharge from his eyes and large yellow scabs. We have already done 7 days of topical erythromycin (prescribed by the pediatrician that we can't see again). His eyes are still the same after the treatment. Do I continue more than 7 days or do I change the treatment? Without MD, could the pharmacist change the medication?

Hello Ma'am,
If there has been no improvement after 7 days of treatment, you will need to see a doctor or optometrist again to reassess. Unfortunately your pharmacist/optometrist cannot change the treatment.
Cordially,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
