My child has had a runny nose and cough for 2 weeks?

My child has been coughing for over 2 weeks. He has a little runny nose but it has improved. He has no symptoms other than a cough. He has not had a fever since the cough started. Should I consult when the cough stays this long? Or is there no point since he is still fine? Thank you

Hello ma'am
In order to get a better sense of his needs, would it be possible to get the following information:
* had he had a cold?
* does he have any other symptoms like sneezing? What color are the secretions?
* have you tried anything for this?
Thank you

He had a cold that always seemed to come back but the cough never went away. He has a greasy cough, his nasal secretions are yellow. No sneezing more than usual. I can hear and " feel " his secretions on his back.

Thanks for the information!
The cough and secretions may persist for some time after a cold. The important thing will be to monitor one's overall condition :)
I strongly suggest continuing nasal hygiene with saline solution like Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse, and then suctioning out the secretions. It's uncomfortable but works extremely well to keep secretions from running down the throat, which is the main cause of coughing. Also encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids :)
Hopefully you have been helpful, please feel free if you have any other questions
