My daughter has had a cough for 10-14 days, when should I consult?

Good evening! My 17 month old had a seizure on Saturday at 1am that was quite unexpected. Fever. We went to the hospital. got the result: influenza. She is fine after a 48h fever and has no more symptoms. But the 5 year old has been coughing for 10-14 days, has a little runny nose and threw up a week ago with a little fever. It is probably her who gave it to the little one? Then another fever peak on Friday (3 days ago) and again this afternoon (Monday). A lot of fatigue, but otherwise nothing major. The tylenol relieves her. Should I consult? I suppose she also has influenza but is it treatable? When should I consult? When can she go back to school (Covid negative). And is there anything to do about the flu? How long will she be contagious? Thank you for your help!

Hello ma'am,
You seem to have already done what you need to do to help your little one with her symptoms: Tylenol for the fever.
I would encourage you to perform nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. It's a little uncomfortable but works extremely well to prevent secretions from running down the throat that cause coughing. I also suggest giving him lots of fluids to drink.
If the fever lasts for 3 days or he doesn't gradually improve after 1 week, you should see a doctor as a precaution.
As for school, given her negative result, she can go if her general condition allows it.
I hope that I have been helpful to you and I remain available if you have any other questions

Thank you for your very helpful answer!
My big one still had a fever last night. And finally the little one too, after 36 hours without it. It doesn't let us go..
I managed to get an appointment with
the little one, I'll try to call the secretary to bring both of them.
Is this much fever a sign of an infection? And if so, will it be antibios? I almost hope it is that..
Thanks in advance for everything, I appreciate it! Have a nice day!

Very often an infection can be viral in origin and will resolve itself. However, fever that lasts 72 hours or more should be evaluated so as not to delay proper treatment, if ever indicated by the physician's assessment
