Should I consult or just continue with the nasal cleansing?

My 15 month old son has had green nasal discharge for a week. It also runs from his eyes a little green. I make him nasal toilets twice a day in spite of that he remains with secretions, I hear it when he breathes. His general condition is good but he is more tired than usual. The educator at the daycare writes me every day to tell me that he has green secretions...should I consult? Thank you

Hello,
So far you are doing the right thing.
Make sure your baby is drinking well, you can offer him liquid more often than usual.
I would tell you to consult if the secretions remain green and thick without improvement for 10 days (so by Thursday if I'm not mistaken) or if your baby starts to have a fever (rectal temperature above 38F) or if he has difficulty breathing.
For his eyes, it is the nasal congestion that brings the secretions in the eyes. Usually a treatment is not advised at first, it should stop with the healing of the cold. However, if it doesn't go away, an antibiotic ointment could be prescribed.
Have a nice evening!
