Is it considered normal to be out of the target range for blood glucose? 10% low (between 3.9 and 3) and 2% very low (3 and below)?

My boy has had a DexcomG6 for about 24 hours. He has hypoglycemia on an empty stomach. The percentages in the question refer to my boy's average blood sugar level. 10% over a 24 hour period.

Yes, this is considered normal in most young patients. In fact, "normal" represents target values, but sometimes you get outside of that without it being problematic (especially if it's not large deviations for large periods of time).
That said, in your boy's situation where they are trying to document and prevent hypoglycemia, the values you are presenting may be considered abnormal. To be sure, it's best to discuss this with your child's endocrinologist (who has his full file...).
