Hello,
I have had a severe dry cough for days. A pharmacist advised me to take Benilyn syrup for dry coughs but her colleague at work did not agree with her. I am 14 weeks pregnant.

If it is indeed the Benylin that I sent you a picture of, this Benylin is compatible with pregnancy. However, generally speaking, cough syrups have limited effectiveness and in pregnancy, non-pharmacological measures are preferred.
Here are some measures to help you:
- Dry cough:
- Use of a humidifier to increase the humidity level (around 40%)
- Drink plenty of water
- Adding honey to the water to soothe the throat
- Sore throat, pain or headache:
- Tylenol (acetaminophen)
