Boy under 2 years old with a fever?

Hello, I have a little boy who is almost 2 years old (Dec. 5) and has had a fever of about 39.8 since Saturday. The fever goes down when we give him Tylenol, but goes up when it doesn't work anymore. His nose is a bit stuffy, but he still seems to breathe well through his nose. He doesn't touch his ear, but for the past 2 days, I've noticed that he gets particularly angry when we touch his ears lightly. We try to clean his nose with saline solution, but we don't know what to do to lower his temperature. He eats and drinks well, but less than usual. He is much less cheerful than usual too.

Hello ma'am,
You are doing well with Tylenol and encouraging him to eat/drink as well as nasal douches.
If the fever persists for 72 hours (as a reminder, it should be measured rectally at this age), you will need to see a doctor so as not to delay management.
I hope that I have been helpful to you and I remain available if you have any further questions
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist

Thanks for the follow up. I just managed to get an appointment Wednesday morning. I'm going to go if his fever still hasn't improved.
Really, thank you.
