My son has a cold and now has secretions from his eyes, what should I do?

My 11 month old son has yellowish secretions coming out of his eyes. He has had a cold (or the flu) for 1 week. He has been running a high fever and teething at the same time. He has a lot of secretions from his nose and throat, but since Monday, as soon as we put him to bed he wakes up with his eyes all stuck and full of crusts. It looks like he literally has snot in his eyes, but it's coming out of his eyes, it's not snot he's getting in his eyes. We do nasal hygiene very often and I wash his eyes with a washcloth of warm water often.

My son has probably had the flu since last week. In addition to coughing, he has a lot of secretions. We do nasal hygiene several times a day to help him breathe better and pass
Since Monday, his secretions are also in his eyes. It seems that he literally snot from his eyes because it's the same as his snot that flows from his nose, but it flows from his eyes. He wakes up at night crying because his eyes are stuck and all crusty. We wash his eyes with a washcloth of warm water
On top of all that, he is teething
Would he have conjunctivitis and could we give him snacks?
We went to the doctor on Monday morning and she said it was viral but his eyes just got worse and it doesn't seem to be getting better or going away

Good morning, ma'am,
The term conjunctivitis encompasses all conditions where there is inflammation of the conjunctiva, and it is viral in origin in most cases. It is like your child's cold that has "gone up" in the eye
You did the right thing with the gauze, just make sure you don't share the towel
Artificial tears such as Systane, Refresh Tears or others can be instilled as often as needed to improve comfort.
If the situation persists for more than 7 days, you should seek medical attention as a precaution.
I hope I have been helpful and remain available if you have any further questions
