His condition can cause sleep apnea, is it normal for him to wake up for 2-3 hours at night because of this?

Hello, my 19 month old son has been diagnosed with nasal vegetations and water behind his eardrums. He is waiting for an operation.

Good morning, ma'am,
It is difficult to determine the exact cause of his waking up because a child can wake up very often during the night, especially if he has congestion. Has any treatment been suggested to you in the meantime?

While waiting for surgery, this can be very long, several months. But he also has a cortisone nasal spray. Yes he sounds very congested at night he snores and breathes very loud.

Thanks for the feedback! If you haven't already done so, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution, followed by suctioning with a nasal aspirator, as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime and a few minutes before using the spray. If the air in his room is dry (e.g. electric heater), a humidifier can be considered.

This is already what we do every day...

In this case, be reassured that you are already doing everything you can.
If his condition remains stable and his general condition is considered good, he is eating/boating (even if less than usual), wetting and soiling his diaper, I suggest that you continue to monitor and apply the measures already in place.
Sincerely

But we have at least 6 months to wait for the surgery. Can his apnea cause him to be awake that long in the night?

Sleep apnea can indeed cause frequent awakenings at night, but it is impossible at this time to determine if this is the cause of these awakenings, unfortunately
