Hello, I am taking a new medication: saxenda for obesity and since yesterday, I was given biaxin for bronchitis. Yesterday, I took the quantity 1,2 with the first medication but also my 1st dose of antibiotic at supper. I had a heartache all night and again this morning which prevented me from taking my antibiotic this morning. Are these 2 medications compatible? Thank you for your help!

I have not noted any interaction between these 2 drugs in the references available to me. However, the antibiotic itself can indeed cause nausea, even vomiting and diarrhea in some people. This may be the case for you and you may not have tolerated the antibiotic well. Since you had difficulty taking your dose this morning, it would be best to talk to your pharmacist, who can intervene with the doctor if necessary to change the antibiotic. He may also refer you back to your doctor depending on his judgment of the situation and the time of starting Saxenda. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you. I took the dose of antibiotic at dinner and so far so good. However, if I start feeling nauseous again during the night like last night, I will take your advice and call my pharmacist tomorrow. Thank you so much and have a great evening!
