I started my metronidazole antibiotics on Monday. 2x a day. I still have tomorrow and Sunday to take them. Can I take alcohol?

It is recommended to wait at least 48 hours after the end of the treatment with metronidazole before consuming alcohol, for several reasons. Alcohol can increase the risk of irritation to the digestive system and the risk of diarrhea, just like the antibiotic.

Also, the antibiotic can make drinking alcohol very uncomfortable: hot flashes, headaches, malaise, etc.
