Is this normal at this time? Is it a sign of complication if the fever persists? What should I do? Thank you for your help.

Hello, my 4 year old daughter has not been feeling well since Friday (vomiting, fever, fatigue, cough, loss of appetite). Sunday/Monday she was still better, Tuesday and Wednesday the fever came back with the fatigue and cough and finally today was a good day but the fever came back this evening

Namely that the fever is between 38.7-39.4, cough that seems to be greasy (we can hear the secretions) and that her nose is running clear/pale green.

Good morning, Madam,
In general, when fever persists, it can be an indicator of an ongoing infection. Thus, generally, in a child over 2 years old, if the fever persists for more than 3 days, they are referred to go see a doctor in order to have a more in-depth evaluation.
Here are some non-pharmacological measures to relieve the symptoms:
  • Nasal congestion and runny nose: saline solution to clean the nose and limit secretions in the throat (Nasal hygiene - CHU Ste-Justine)
  • Rehydration solution to prevent dehydration in children after vomiting
  • Honey to soothe the throat
  • Tylenol for fever, headaches and pain
I hope I have answered your question,
