I am taking Ozempic and I have cramps in my upper stomach, what should I do?

Hello! I've been taking Ozempic for a few months (for weight loss, I'm not diabetic). Since I'm down to 1MG, I have pain in my upper stomach (kind of like an intense cramp) that lasts between 10 minutes and 1h30. Most of the time, when I take a hot bath, it goes away, but sometimes I make myself vomit before the pain goes away... it happens to me about 1x a week. I take dexilant occasionally, but I don't dare to take it continuously since it is not recommended.

Hello ma'am,
Is the pain accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea or other?
Did you have these symptoms with the lower dose?
Are you currently taking any other medication?

Hello! No, no other symptoms came with it, except for the vomiting (when it lasts, but often I provoke it to decrease the pain)
i started having this about the same time I started the 1mg, but my Nurse put me down to 0.75 for 1 month and then the pain continued (I get this about 1x a week)
i started my 1mg again, I'm very careful about what I eat and try to move more after meals, it helps a bit, but I still feel a fragility.
i take blood pressure medication and synthroid

Thank you for the information, I am sorry for the delay I did not see the notification!
I would have been of the same opinion as your nurse to try a decrease in the dose even if temporary. That being said, if the symptoms have persisted, I am inclined to suggest going back to the previous dose but for 3 to 4 weeks to evaluate what happens next. That being said, it would be best to confirm this with your pharmacist as he/she is in a better position to work out a plan with you, or refer you to your doctor if further evaluation is deemed necessary.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
