To know if activated charcoal could be helpful in his situation, if not how to help him

27-year-old womana year ago
Hello, we are almost certain that my husband is lactose intolerant and the symptoms have been going on since yesterday, he has bloating, gurgling, diarrhea. Obviously he will go see a doctor eventually for this problem. But I am wondering what could help him right now? Can I give him activated charcoal? Thank you

Good morning, Madam,
Activated charcoal is usually given in rare cases of intoxication under hospital supervision, so it is not recommended in your situation. Activated charcoal can interfere with the absorption of medication if you are taking medication. It is important not to become dehydrated during diarrhea, so you may want to give him rehydration solutions. If it is lactose intolerance, the symptoms usually last up to 48 hours.
Therefore, there are various products available on the shelves (Lactaid, LactoMax) in pharmacies for better digestion of lactose if your spouse wishes to consume a product containing lactose for the next time.
I hope I have answered your question,
