What to do if there is debris in a wound?

My boy fell and scraped his ankle. I cleaned the wound but there is still a piece of rock in there that I can't get out because it hurts. Is there any chance that it will come out on its own? I put polysporin to avoid infection. What else can I do? Thanks This came in today so I'm waiting until when to consult if the rock doesn't come out? Thank you I will make an appointment right away.

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question! The debris should come out on its own especially if you flushed with white water. If the situation is from a few days ago, I would encourage you to consult in a walk-in. If a nurse is on duty she will be better able to assess the situation and ensure proper cleaning of the wound.
