Is this a normal side effect or is the treatment the right one? The cream is clotrimazole 1%, the isolated lesion on the back

Is it normal for a small lesion (fungus) on my baby's back to dry out after treatment with clotrimazole cream?

Good evening,
It is possible to see de-squamation and dryness in a fungal infection. The cream does not normally have this effect, but it may be a sign that the healing process has begun
Has the lesion become less pink since starting clotrimazole?
Is the lesion smaller? Is it larger?

The redness is indeed decreasing but the surface area is not!

So it's still a sign that the cream is working. It may take a while for a fungus lesion to disappear. The first step in healing is the plaque becoming paler. The area may or may not shrink, depending on the case, but that doesn't mean the cream isn't working
I suggest you continue to apply the cream twice a day until the lesion is completely gone and continue for another 3 days.
