What to do about white hairy tongue?

Thank you for the information. This condition is usually temporary and heals on its own. If the problem has been going on for years, could there be a trigger? Have you noticed that the symptoms are less or worse at times?

If so, I suggest that for the next 4 to 6 weeks, you keep a diary where you write down everything you consume and the quantities, but also the activities you undertake, and your state of mind (fatigue, stress, etc.). In the second column you could write down the occurrence and extent of these symptoms. We could then identify some possible causes. This can take several weeks so I suggest you be diligent.

I also suggest, if not already done, basic oral hygiene: brush with soft or very soft bristles, floss at least once a day, and use an alcohol-free mouthwash if you use one
