Should I stop using cortisone cream? Maybe I put too much on?
Are whiteheads a sign of infection? Can it break out?

Hello,
I have an external hemorrhoid that does not swell. I have been using Anodan 0.5% cream for 9 days, about 2-3 times a day. I use it both internally and externally. I take a bath 1-2 times a day as well. Since yesterday, I have pain at rest (something I didn't have before) and I see 2 small white spots on the hemorrhoid.
I am 10 days post partum, but this hemorrhoid was present and swollen months before delivery. I had a hemorrhoid that came out after giving birth, but with the cream it went away.
Note that I have no bleeding from the area.

Hello,
It is appropriate to treat a hemorrhoid with Anodan twice a day and after each bowel movement. It can take up to 14 days to heal, but it should at least improve after 5-7 days of treatment. Since this doesn't seem to be the case for you and new symptoms are developing, I recommend that you stop the cortisone cream and see a doctor.
A physical assessment by your doctor will help determine the appropriate treatment for your diagnosis. For your information, the signs of infection are
Redness and heat
Pain and inflammation
Purulent secretions
Hopefully this answers your question,
