Diarrhea and intestinal discomfort for 5 days. Should I make an appointment with my doctor or wait a few more days?

I have not been able to digest my morning meals for 5 days. As soon as I eat, I have to go to the bathroom to evacuate. I'm afraid to eat at lunchtime so it doesn't happen at work. After dinner everything is fine, but the next morning I still have to empty myself. I sometimes feel a discomfort in my stomach, but nothing more. No trace of blood, no big intestinal cramps.

soft stools, the texture looks like applesauce, but not liquid like water. The morning is really hard, but the rest of the day I hardly go to the bathroom. I tried Peptobismol, but it didn't help even though it made me want to go to the bathroom. I haven't taken any different medication since day one. I just thought it was indigestion or a little virus that would pass.

It is indeed very likely that PeptoBismol is not helping your situation. And while the situation is very upsetting, I would wait a few more days before going to see a doctor if you don't have any alarming signs (weight loss, blood in the stool, mucus in the stool, dehydration). This means that if it can take a few days before you can see a doctor, it would be a good idea to start tomorrow (Monday).

You may have had a small virus and your gut is now sensitive to what you eat. After an "intense" period of diarrhea, the gut may have difficulty digesting foods that are usually easily digested, such as dairy products. While you are waiting for your appointment, try to find out what you eat in the morning that is missing from your diet the rest of the day. If you find something, try to leave it out until your body has recovered. Also be careful with fruit (too much of it), as the natural sugars in it can also cause this effect.
