What are the causes and how can I stop the smell knowing that my hygiene has never changed.

22-year-old womana year ago
Hello, I have been noticing a strong odor from my vaginal discharge for quite some time. There is no particular color, no particular texture and I have been tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea and everything is negative. I've had the same sexual partner for 2 years so I really don't understand the problem. Thank you for clarifying this for me!

Good morning, ma'am,
A certain odor does not necessarily indicate a problem, especially if you have already seen a doctor about it and a problem has been ruled out.
Odor is analogous to sweating, and can depend on the time of day, diet, daily activities (e.g. sweating), and can even vary through the menstrual cycle.
The first thing to focus on is non-pharmacological measures, if this has not been tried:
  • Ensure basic hygiene with water. Products such as Vagisil and vaginal douches should be avoided.
  • I suggest wearing clothes that are not tight and that allow breathing, such as cotton clothes and underwear.
You mention that you have been doing this for a "long time". If there has been a recent change in odor, and/or any other new symptoms, it would be prudent to consult a physician.
I hope this has been helpful to you, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions!
