What can I do to calm the crisis completely and stop the pain of hemorrhoids?

33-year-old womana year ago
Hello, I started to have pain in my anus 5 days ago because of hemorrhoids. I've been using Anusol cream every 4 hours for the past 4 days, but apart from decreasing the pain without removing it completely, it doesn't do anything more.

Good morning, Mrs,
You did well with Anusol (or Anusol plus). Tylenol can be added for the pain, even for that area, it can help relieve it.
Other measures can be taken to promote healing:
  • Avoid prolonged sitting on the toilet bowl, this is a position that can make it worse. Get up as soon as you are done (don't read the newspaper or use your cell phone, for example)
  • I would also recommend using unscented wet wipes, a wet washcloth or a bidet for hygiene instead of toilet paper for the time being, to give the mucous membranes a chance to heal.
Does the problem stem from constipation or diarrhea?

Constipation, I just had a c-section and took several medications that constipate afterwards. I've been taking Lax-a-day since then, but the first bowel movement was very difficult to get out so that triggered the crisis.

Thanks for the feedback. In addition to Lax-A-Day, I encourage you to eat lots of fiber (fruits and vegetables, whole grains, etc.) and drink lots of fluids to soften the stool.
I hope this has been helpful and am available if you have any further questions!
