Hello,
Anusol Plus ointment, available without a prescription, can be applied to the irritated area (inside and outside if needed) twice a day and after each bowel movement, it can help the area.
Avoid sitting on the toilet bowl for long periods of time, as this can make the situation worse. Get up as soon as you are done (don't read the newspaper or use your cell phone for example)
I would also recommend using unscented wet wipes, a wet washcloth or a bidet for hygiene instead of toilet paper for the time being, to give the mucous membranes a chance to heal.
If the situation does not seem to be improving after 2 weeks, or if it gets worse, you should consult a doctor.
I will remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
