Breast cancer: how many years should i be taking anti-hormone therapy with an aromatase inhibitor?

pathology report: T1c N0, grade 3/3, receptors +, HER2 + treatments: partial mastectomy, chemotherapy (4 rounds @ 3 week intervals of IV docetaxel & cyclophosphamide), Herceptin (17 treatments @ 3 wk intervals), radiotherapy (20 doses)

Hi there,
Aromatase inhibitors can be used in different ways.
They can be used as an adjuvant treatment, i.e. as an adjunct to the primary treatment. In this way, they are used to prevent the risk of recurrence or to develop metastases. In this case, treatment usually lasts 5 years.
They can also be used for more advanced cancers. In this case, treatment is continued until there is progression in the disease. In this case, you should refer to your medical team at the hospital.
