Are my son's pimples a cause for concern or not ?

26-year-old womana year ago
My son has pimples everywhere and they are itchy. He had a slight fever on Friday. His sister has had 2x strep and is on hold for a possible 3rd time, influenza or mononucleosis. I am wondering if my son's rash should cause him to seek medical attention?

Hello!
The appearance of pimples accompanied by an episode of fever may suggest the presence of a viral infection. In general, these infections last a few days and heal on their own
In order to better guide you, would it be possible for you to send me pictures of her pimples? I would also need to know :
  • How old is your child?
  • Does he have any allergies?
  • Does he take any medication?
  • Does he have any health problems?
  • When did the pimples appear?
  • On which parts of the body are the pimples present?
  • Does your child have any other symptoms (sore throat, cough, stuffy/runny nose)?
  • Has your child had any other fever episodes since Friday?
  • Have you noticed any improvement in symptoms?
  • How is his general condition (is he still playing)?
  • Have you given any treatment for his symptoms (Benadryl, Tylenol or others)?
Hoping to help you,

The fact that his general condition is good and that he has not had any other episodes of fever is a good sign.
However, if I understand correctly the pimples first appeared near his penis on November 21 and since then they have spread to the rest of his body (except on his face) without having diminished?
If this is the case, I suggest you go see a doctor if the pimples do not diminish by next Monday
In the meantime, to relieve the itching, you can give him Claritin Syrup. for children 2-12 years old. I would need to know your child's weight so that I can recommend the safe and effective dose for him/her.

He weighs 28 lbs. I have an appointment on December 8, is too far?
Louiza Lounas · a year ago
You can give him 2.5 ml with a syringe once a day from reactin syrup for children 2-12 years old
I mentioned Claritin syrup above. However, there is more data as to the effective and safe dose for a child under 24 months with Reactin, so I favor the latter
Since you already have an appointment, December 8 is correct. However, if before your appointment his general condition deteriorates or if you are concerned about the appearance of the pimples, please feel free to contact us again or call 811 to find out what to do.
We hope to have been able to help you,
