Hello, I have had a helix piercing for 16 months. When I remove the jewel, I notice that my cartilage is deformed and that a bump (firm) has formed behind my ear around the piercing hole.

The lump could also be scar tissue, which is quite common.

In this case, it usually needs to be surgically removed. You will need to consult a physician to properly assess the situation and rule out other causes.
