Can I take low-dose aspirin to prevent heart disease with Twynsta?

I am a 47 year old obese male and have been taking Twynsta 40-5mg for about 2 years to counteract high blood pressure. I have no other diseases. I read that taking a low daily dose of Aspirin can prevent many ailments.

I don't take any other medications. There is a history of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes in the family.

Hello,
Concerning low-dose Aspirin, it was used much more in the past for cardiac prevention. However, since a few years we know clearly that there are risks of bleeding when taking Aspirin (like an aneurysm). So, before starting Asprin, it is best to talk to your doctor. If the risks outweigh the benefits, it is best not to take it. Your personal and family medical history should be considered. If you have had a heart attack, Aspirin would clearly be a good prevention against cardiac events.
